In its ongoing pursuit of safety excellence, Graycor Industrial Constructors—a leading provider of construction services in the metals, power and process industries—recently reached an important milestone by performing one million self-perform man-hours with ZERO recordable injuries.

“Attaining such a feat as this is prized within our industry, especially when it is earned from working within the challenging industrial environments that we do,” says Sam Potter, president of Graycor Industrial, a company that directly employs approximately three million craft labor work hours each year and self-performs concrete, steel erection, heavy rigging, equipment setting, piping, ASME code work, and refractory.

Graycor’s projects, which include environmental retrofits, balance-of-plant and plant maintenance, often take place in operating areas within steel mills, power plants and refineries.

“Our safety efforts are always striving to improve, and we are excited to celebrate this milestone,” says Jack Carlson, vice president of safety and quality, adding, “We believe our commitment to training and working with our trades persons to improve safe behaviors has aided us in meeting this significant achievement.”
